On all of our programs, we attempt to foster a sense of accomplishment by challenging participants' personal ability level in a variety of activities. We place a strong emphasis on wilderness and outdoor skills: everything from planning a backpacking trip, to snow mountaineering, to kayaking, to cooking a "gourmet" trailside meal. Individuals find more opportunities for personal growth through group interaction as well as through group meetings. On a regular basis, leaders facilitate these sessions to help kids process the activities of the day and to encourage individuals to share their feelings with the group. Kids are active participants in the maintenance of the group. Expeditioners typically emerge from the summer with strong friendships, increased self-awareness, and a powerful sense of achievement.

Each 12- to 28-day trip has a different mixture of activities. We offer backpacking, bicycle touring, canoeing, caving, eco-service, environmental education, horsepacking, kayaking, Mayan ruins, mountain biking, mountaineering, rock climbing, ropes course, sailing, scuba diving, sea kayaking, skiing, snorkeling, backcountry snowboarding, surfing, surf kayaking, whale watching, white water rafting, and windsurfing in world class settings. You pick the trip that fits you the best.

Location
Longacre Expeditions has base camps in Newport, PA (for Pennsylvania, West Virginia), Unity, ME (for Maine, New Hampshire, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Iles-de-la-Madeleine), Tincup, CO (for Colorado), Bellingham, WA (for Washington and British Columbia), and Bend OR, (for Southern Washington and Oregon). Individual trips operate independently in Iceland, the US and British Virgin Islands, Hawaii, and Belize.

Costs
Tuition runs from $2,850 to $5,695. A deposit of $600 is required to save a space. Tuition balance is due on April 1.
